Beauveria bassiana is an entomopathogenic fungus and its 203 strain in contact with larvae and adults of the red palm weevil, parasitizes them.
The fungus recognizes the cuticle of the insect, pierces it and feeds on its interior. Once the insect is dead, the fungus rises to the surface, producing spores that infest other red palm weevils.
This is a good technique to apply in extensive palm groves or in infestation traps.
