Official trials

Since the beginning of the development of the system, more than 10 years ago, in SOSPALM we understood that an innovative project in the system of endotherapy in palm trees required control, supervision and monitoring by official institutions that gave evidence of the results.

With the collaboration of the Agricultural Engineer Doctor Don José Manuel Llorens Climent, Head of Section of the Valencian Generalitat, Ministry of the Presidency and Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Water, Health and Certification Service in Alicante and Director of the Palmeral Chair of Elche at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche. We had the support in personnel and media of the Excellent City Council of Elche, TRAGSA, Palmereros of APELX and the Association of Date Producers of Elche. The results that are exposed in the reports were carried out by the Agri-Food Laboratory belonging to the Valencian Government.

Around 20 trials were carried out aimed at:

• Check the functionality of the SOSPALM system.
• Measure the efficacy of different insecticides, combining different doses and injection frequencies in different palm species.
• Check that the use of the system protected palm trees from basal, lateral and crown attacks.
• Check the arrival of insecticides at the meristem in tall palm trees.
• Check that there are no residues of insecticides in Dates and Pollen.

All this effort has paid off, with the awarding of the prize by the Miguel Hernández University of Elche in Defense of the Palm Grove and for the international recognition of the effectiveness of the SOSPALM system as an approved method of endotherapy for the control of pests and palm diseases.
